Brookhaven Fire Company is seeking highly motivated full time EMTs and EMRs to staff our EMS Division. Brookhaven EMS responds to over 2400 EMS calls per year and we are comprised of full time, part time and volunteer staff. Our EMS division prides itself on providing high quality pre-hospital services to persons in need of care during sudden illness or injury. Our EMS providers enjoy modern, state of the art ambulances and equipment, as well as a comfortable work setting including a crew room, charting room, dormitory style sleeping quarters and internet service. Experience:
1. Minimum of two years of pre-hospital basic life support experience preferred.
2. Knowledge, ability and skills necessary to appropriately assess and manage care of BLS patients.
3. Knowledge, ability and skills necessary to assist paramedics with care of ALS patients.
4. Knowledge, ability and skills necessary to operate basic equipment and assist with the operation of advanced equipment.
Education:
1. High school graduate
2. Successful completion of and approved EMT program recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
3. Satisfactory completion of practical and written examinations administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Licenses/Certifications:
1. Current driver’s license valid in Pennsylvania.
2. Current Pennsylvania certification as an EMT, NREMT or EMR.
3. Hazmat awareness and EVOC
4. Other certifications are encouraged.
Benefits:
Wages:
Full Time EMT: $20.00/Hour to start with yearly increases.
Full Time EMR: $15.00/Hour to start with yearly increases.
Part Time EMT: $18.00/Hour.
Part Time EMR: $13.00/Hour.
Full time employees receive time and a half rate for working the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
Health Insurance:
Full time employees will be offered a comprehensive medical, dental and vision plan with no employee contribution.
Entitlement:
Full time employees will receive paid vacation and sick leave
Scheduling:
Full time employees will work 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off. Employees will rotate from daywork to nightwork every two weeks.
