NOTICE OF VACANCY

NOTICE is hereby given that a vacancy exists in the office of Borough Tax Collector. It is expected that Borough Council will vote to fill the vacancy at its September 11, 2023 meeting. The appointed Tax Collector may so serve until January 2, 2024. Should the appointee wish to serve beyond that date, he/she must stand as a candidate for election to the office of Tax Collector at the general municipal election scheduled for November 7, 2023. The successful candidate will be eligible to serve a two-year unexpired term remaining in the office of Tax Collector.

Interested candidates for the position of Tax Collector should submit a letter of interest with resume and qualifications to the Borough Secretary at john.wilwert@brookhavenboro.com no later than Friday, August 25, 2023.

Eligible candidates for the office of Tax Collector shall meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Have resided in the Borough for at least one year prior to their appointment and continue to reside in the Borough during their term of office.
  2. Shall hold no other elected office in the Borough and may not be an employee of the Borough.
  3. Undergo a basic training program, successfully pass an examination, and be issued a “qualified tax collector” certification issued by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.
  4. Submit a criminal history report to the Borough prior to taking the oath of office.
