The Fire Marshal is cautioning residents not to overload power strips in your residence and/or any other buildings on your property or workplace. See the pictures below to show what can happen (and actually did happen to a Brookhaven resident) if a power strip is overloaded and it gets too hot — it can and will cause a fire! And that is something none of us want, EVER.
Luckily, the residents were home, the smoke detector worked, the fire was contained, and the residents got out of the house safely — a catastrophe averted!
Please everyone take caution and check all your power strips and receptacles to be certain nothing is overloaded, electrical wise.
