The American Legion is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that was established by Congress in 1919. Its mission is to support veterans and their families, promote patriotism, and advocate for national security. The American Legion also supports community programs, including youth support, substance abuse, victim services, and violence prevention.
The American Legion’s vision statement is Veterans Strengthening America. It embraces all members of the military, both current and former, and helps them transition back into their communities. The American Legion also celebrates those who contribute to something greater than themselves and inspires others to serve and strengthen America.
