Save the Chester Water Authority (CWA)

What is all this ‘talk’ about Saving the Chester Water Authority (CWA)?

The City of Chester is in bankruptcy and facing a fiscal crisis. The state-appointed financial receiver proposed a plan to lease off the publicly owned water, sewer, and stormwater systems to the highest bidder. This would lead to massive rate hikes on Chester and surrounding communities – hitting low-income households hardest.

Since 2017, private water corporations have tried to take advantage of the city’s crisis and force a hostile takeover of the well-run Chester Water Authority. We need real solutions for Chester and other environmental justice communities, not corporate water grabs. The Chester Water AUthoity does not want to be sold!

Urge Governor Shapiro to stop the water grab and provide the real resources that communities need!

We’re taking a stand and delivering our petitions to Gov. Shapiro IN PERSON in Harrisburg!

Sign the petition to send to Governor Shapiro.

Call our State Rep, Leanne Krueger and State Senator, John Kane and thank them and ask them to intercede on the CWA ratepayers’ behalf with the Governor, tell them they must do something NOW and put pressure on Gov. Shapiro to pay off Chester’s pension debt and Save CWA.
