August 2026 – StorySprout Libraries installed their first little library along the Betty Kelley Walking Trail. Thanks to the Rec Board, Public Works, Aston Library (director – Stephen Sarazin), and resident donations that helped make this a successful project.
The StorySprout team raised funds and purchased the little library, assembled and painted them, secured the initial books by working closely with the Aston Library, and Brookhaven Public Works assisted in building the post, mounting, and installing the library box.

Brookhaven is proud to be the home of the first StorySprout Library! And more to come!
=============
At the July 2025 Council meeting, Mahnoor Khan, founder of StorySprout Libraries and an 11th grader at Sun Valley High School, proposed her plan to install free little libraries on public property in Brookhaven. These will be small weatherproof boxes allowing community members to Take a Book, Leave a Book, fostering reading habits and neighborhood engagement.
Mahnoor and her team, fellow 11th graders Haylie Smith and Bridget Steel from Brookhaven, Chloe Burushkin from Parkside, and her younger brother Yousef Khan, who is in 7th grade, will work with Brookhaven Council and the Recreation Board to determine where to build the little libraries. They will take full responsibility for raising funds, installing, stocking, monitoring, and maintaining these sidewalk libraries.
They are very thankful for the donations they have already received to build the first library, but will need help to expand their project. If you would like to help them with funds or supplies or books, please click here.
