Council met in executive session this evening to extend the local state of disaster emergency, indefinitely. Further, Council voted unanimously to close Borough Hall for a span of two weeks. The Borough hall office will be without staff for this period of time. The borough voice mail will be checked and calls returned periodically.
Council also voted to close the Public Works Department, with the exception of emergency sewer calls for the same period of time.

As of now, we hope to return to normal on Monday, April 6th. We are closely monitoring the numbers of cases on the local, state, and national levels and evaluating our next actions.
Taxes: Council voted tonight to extend the grace period for the discount rate to April 30th. All taxes must be mailed, until the front office re-opens.
We are all in this together, and whatever Brookhaven Borough can do to ensure the safety and health of its residents, we will do. For now, stay safe and follow the recommendations for social distancing and hygiene and do your best to avoid large gatherings.
We WILL beat this!
