Charlotte & Joe, 1982
  • Charlotte was born in Odessa, DE.
  • In 1949 with her husband Joseph Barr, she moved to Brookhaven and raised their 4 children on Greenwood Street:
    • Beverly Barr-Greto
    • Joseph Barr, Jr.
    • Emily Barr-Hall-Wood
    • Karen Barr-Dauber
  • She loved Brookhaven and the neighborhood kids.  She was a crossing guard at Edgmont Avenue & Cambridge Road.  Years later, those walkers who lived on that side of “the Avenue” remembered Mrs. Barr giving them hugs, support, and even lunch money if they needed it.
  • In her early years in Brookhaven, Charlotte volunteered with the Republican Party.
  • She enjoyed volunteering for Our Lady of Charity for the annual carnival and where she ran the kitchen for the weekly Sunday evening Bingo.

Her door was always open!

Joe also served in the military. Click here for more information on Joe.
