- Charlotte was born in Odessa, DE.
- In 1949 with her husband Joseph Barr, she moved to Brookhaven and raised their 4 children on Greenwood Street:
- Beverly Barr-Greto
- Joseph Barr, Jr.
- Emily Barr-Hall-Wood
- Karen Barr-Dauber
- She loved Brookhaven and the neighborhood kids. She was a crossing guard at Edgmont Avenue & Cambridge Road. Years later, those walkers who lived on that side of “the Avenue” remembered Mrs. Barr giving them hugs, support, and even lunch money if they needed it.
- In her early years in Brookhaven, Charlotte volunteered with the Republican Party.
- She enjoyed volunteering for Our Lady of Charity for the annual carnival and where she ran the kitchen for the weekly Sunday evening Bingo.
Her door was always open!
